Waste Water Treatment Technician ensures that pumps, conveyors, blowers, chlorinators, vacuum equipment and other waste water treatment equipment are functioning properly. Monitors equipment for potential failures and may make minor repairs or adjustments as needed. Being a Waste Water Treatment Technician collects water samples for chemical analysis. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Additionally, Waste Water Treatment Technician typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Waste Water Treatment Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Position Overview
Performs skilled technical work demonstrating proficiency in investigating consumer complaints, assessing water system breaks and leak detection incidents. Must demonstrate the ability to determine appropriate maintenance and repair action in a variety of water system problems such as leak detection in pipelines, meters, valves, fittings, and hydrants. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Distribution Systems Manager. This position is designated as essential during disaster and/or emergency situations.
