Wealth Management Specialist develops individualized wealth management financial plans and recommendations to help clients attain financial goals by selecting investment solutions to minimize risk and grow wealth. Uses broad knowledge of investment products to educate clients on available investment options and create planning scenarios for retirement, education savings, and other financial objectives. Being a Wealth Management Specialist keeps abreast of economic conditions and new financial products to inform and advise clients on potential enhancements to existing financial plans and create up-sell opportunities. Monitors client portfolios to ensure appropriate risk profile. Additionally, Wealth Management Specialist follows all regulatory and organizational policies and procedures. May be involved with selling or coordinating the purchase of additional financial products or services to clients. Requires a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business or equivalent. May have the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation. Typically reports to a manager. The Wealth Management Specialist work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.     BASE SALARY RANGE: $60,000 - $70,000

    The Government Employees Benefit Association (GEBA) was founded as a not-for-profit membership organization in 1957 by a group of National Security Agency (NSA) employees to serve public servants—by offering supplemental insurance benefits then not offered by the Federal Government. Since then, GEBA membership and services have expanded to serve the broader federal workforce, the Military, and their families and with financial & retirement planning in addition to insurance. With approximately 16,000 members and 2,000 Wealth Management clients, GEBA is Feds’ Trusted Financial Partner.

    About You

    GEBA seeks an experienced insurance industry professional to serve as a Member Services Representative to join our team to help to us serve and deepen our relationships with current and prospective members. You will play a crucial role in helping to meet our best-in-class customer/member service mission, and in supporting our growth goals through educating members about all of our product and service offerings.     Responsibilities

    1. Customer and Member Account Service/Management

    • Respond to member requests, complaints or services issues via phone and email and mail
    • Creates members accounts in our system platform by recording and entering account information in our database, confirming coverage and billing, and confirming members coverage status.
    • Maintain member accounts by updating and servicing member changes in our database.
    • Maintain and process member accounts, i.e. billing changes, adjustments, claims, refunds, cancellations, changes in employment or family status, etc.
    • Handle processes for various products related to necessary compliance paperwork and procedures, including record-keeping, filing, other
    • Serve as intermediary with insurance company partners, and other GEBA staff, to address member matters, as needed.

    2. Support GEBA Membership growth goals:

    • Engage in inbound and outbound product discussions with customers and in response to marketing campaigns
    • Represent GEBA, up to 3-5 times per year at events at regional Federal Agencies/Departments (i.e. benefit fairs, other)
    • Advise active or prospective members via outreach communications, campaigns, understanding the different demographic groups that GEBA services.
    • Systematically identify cross-serve/sell opportunities and product solutions for members.
    • Work with existing members to broaden awareness of GEBA services and programs that also serve families.
    • Provide other parts of GEBA organization with customer feedback and identify possible pain points or opportunities to improve customer satisfaction.

    Required Experience, Skills, and Attributes

    • Life insurance Agent license and experience with insurance policies and claims and/or HIPAA
    • Minimum of five years’ experience in a customer service role for a membership association with an insurance program and/or insurance agency/financial services organization, or related industry
    • Critical thinker, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills
    • High level of accuracy.
    • Excellent external relations/customer/member service skills.
    • Demonstrates a composure in a deadline driven environment.
    • Flexible and adept at multi-tasking.
    • Experience with a CRM and client database related to enrollment and/or billing.
    • Strong software skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
    • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
    • Ability to effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
    • Positive and professional manner with both internal and external customers.
    • Embraces GEBA’s values and workplace culture (above) and works collaboratively with teammates to ensure team-wide success.

    Desired

    • Experience with the federal benefits arena or public servants.
    • P&C License

    Working Environment and Physical Requirements

    • Onsite at our Hanover, MD office; occasional local travel to promote membership at events.
    • Prolonged periods of remaining stationary, the need to occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and may need to move boxes weighing up to 30 lbs.
    • Constant use of a computer and other office productivity equipment such as a copy machine and computer printer.
    • Significant people interaction via telephone and in person.
