Position Summary:
The Web Operations Specialist is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and development of the university’s website management environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Assists with the administration of the university's instance of a web content management system.
Collaborates with the university's Office of Information Systems to help maintain and iterate the technical infrastructure and server needs for the website content management system.
Assists with troubleshooting and resolution of web performance issues
Assists with developing policies, procedures, and specifications for software, hardware, equipment, and supplies for the office of University Marketing & Communication
Assists with developing and maintaining Omni CMS snippets, components and website templates
Researches web software and hardware best practices in the higher education industry
Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript
Knowledge XSL and XML coding languages
Knowledge of web page template development
Knowledge of project planning and development
Knowledge of software and hardware implementation processes
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Web Design/Development, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field. Additionally, relevant experience and progress toward a degree will be considered.
Experience working with a Content Management System
Ability to collaborate with a team, and communicate across areas of specialization
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience administrating the OU Campus / Omni CMS content management system
Knowledge of managing/administering Microsoft, RedHat, or Oracle Linux servers or systems
Knowledge of managing/administering Internet Information Services (IIS), or Apache web servers
Successful experience with implementing SEO Best Practices
Work Location, Environment, and Physical Demands:
Significant computer time
May need to carry equipment no more than 20 pounds
Some nights, evenings, and weekends may be required.
