This a six month contract position. Under general direction, this position is responsible for the design, development, and creation of user centered designs for the County’s websites and web applications.
WEB DESGINER - INTERMEDIATE
40 HOURS PER WEEK
MONDAY - FRIDAY
•Design and develop user interface features, site animation, and special-effects elements.
• Work with business stakeholders to define UI/UX and branding requirements for departmental
websites and web applications
• Work to improve the usability, usefulness, and desirability of Web sites in collaboration with graphic
designers, product managers, engineering staff and other Web designers.
• Work with a project team of web developers, providing hands-on implementation of the UI design
elements with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Conduct user studies, design and perform usability tests, create prototypes, and provide ad hoc
user interface consulting to developers and business stakeholders
• Contribute to the design group's efforts to enhance the appeal of the organization's online offerings.
• Design and build interactive responsive websites on various web content management platforms
- entire lifecycle from inception to deployment
• Contribute to content creation and editing as needed for website delivery projects
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Minimum of 4 years work experience as a web designer/developer including
- Hands on coding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, etc. Frameworks such as Bootstrap,
Angular, etc. are fine; however, the candidate must be able to write HTML and CSS from
scratch
- Producing prototypes of UI designs for team and customer review.
- Demonstrable experience with responsive web design (both design and implementation).
• Experience design building websites using different web content management systems, such as
DNN, SharePoint, WordPress, etc.
• Experience designing websites for SEO compliance
• Experience designing websites for SEO compliance
• Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe
XD, Sketch, Balsamiq, Axure, InVision,
• Familiarity/experience working with WCAG 2.0 standards.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Must be comfortable recommending alternative approaches.
• Must be comfortable working individually and on teams
• Candidate will be asked to provide a portfolio or sampling of prior work with specific focus on UI
and UX aspects.
• Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio (2013 or beyond) (preferred)
• Experience in an agile development environment (preferred)
• Experience working with .NET developers, modifying HTML and applying CSS to their C# coded
projects. (preferred)
