Ulbrich Stainless Steels & Special Metals, located in North Haven, CT, is seeking an experienced Director of Product Management with a solid background in Engineering or Metallurgy/Material Sciences and Sales. This position offers a competitive compensation program including a semi-annual bonus plan and reports to the Group Chief Operating Officer.
The Director of Product Management will be responsible for partnering with customers on developing new business, maintaining existing business, and acquiring knowledge of new applications and technologies; directing Product Managers in the development of new business in strategic markets and applications; leading, directing and coordinating the growth of sales; establishing pricing schedules; utilizing the Ulbrich distribution network to position the company’s products and maximizing value; developing and managing the supply chain of raw materials; and negotiating sales contracts.
Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 10 years’ experience, preferably in the metals industry; experience in the sales and production of high-performance alloys; a strong background in market development of new products, applications in emerging markets and new technologies; a technical aptitude and engineering background, preferably in Metallurgy; and proven negotiating skills and long term contracts. Must be energetic, focused with sense of urgency; self-starter, independent decision maker, effective communicator, and possess proven leadership skills. Intermediate skills with MS Office and marketing databases required.
