Plant Manager

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the daily activities of manufacturing operations which includes: Sheet Metal, Rolling Steel Door Production and Maintenance Departments.  Organization reach includes Manufacturing Engineering, Continuous Improvement, Lean methodology and practices implementation and Quality systems that affect manufacturing operations.  This position directly supervises all the manufacturing operations of the business for all shifts. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Directly oversees production supervisors to manage the daily activities of all manufacturing production workers including: sheet metal, rolling steel door assembly, and maintenance departments. 
• Develops and owns the Manufacturing expense budget and related expenditures.
• Defines staffing needs and works with HR to maintain those levels.   
• Upholds and guides production with respect to safety, quality, delivery and cost (SQDC), in this order. 
• Conducts and participates in daily GEMBA walk through all operating cells.
• Directs maintenance employees to ensure operating equipment uptime meets production schedules and that TPM is implemented. Establish OEE measure for all equipment. 
• Directs Manufacturing Engineering to achieve product and process improvements, capital appropriation requests, machinery selection and installation.
• Owns the Safety, 5S/Lean Programs, ensures adherence to Company policies, and maintains the BMS processes for manufacturing operations.
• Maintains good employee relations and adherence to company policies and procedures, developing those as necessary and takes proper disciplinary measures when required.
• Provides regular and formal performance reviews for all production members and direct reports. 
• Establishes and publishes production metrics to ensure we meet our productivity objectives and find new ways to improve production efficiencies.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

The position requires a formal degree, preferably in a related field of study.  Prior manufacturing experience required, preferably with several years of leadership experience.  Prior experience overseeing Quality a plus.  Must be safety minded.  Prior experience in metal forming and /or metal bending a plus. Prior ERP system knowledge and LEAN implementation experience required.  Experience with financial management tools applicable to the Operations function preferred.  Strong communication and presentation skills required.  Prior experience in managing multiple shift operations preferred.
