Assistant Wedding Coordinator

    We are adding to our Wedding Team through a unique opportunity to cycle through and learn all the core functions of throwing a wedding.

    The right candidates are highly organized, strong leaders, kind to their core, hard working, and genuinely want to be in service to others.

    You must have the ability to work well with others and lead at the same time, move from one task to another quickly, and always make our guests and other team members feel appreciated and welcome.

    This position starts by learning EACH position involved in hosting a wedding, so successful candidates will need to spend time in several departments. You will learn catering, florals, music management, venue setup and breakdown, and other related skills.

    Only candidates who excel in most if not all categories will be invited to stay.

    For some, this will be a one season (6 month) job where you learn a lot and meet a lot of nice people.

    For others, you may be invited back for another season in one of the roles you learned (ex: Catering) or to learn more and try again to master the skills necessary to move into the coordination team.

    For those who do exceptionally well, you have the opportunity for a full time, year round position in wedding coordination and planning.

    Duties
    Initial duties, while passing through each department, will include the following:

    As a server:

    - Assist with light food preparation under the guidance of the kitchen supervisor

    - Plate dinners for guests as part of buffet staff
    - Follow portion guidelines to ensure consistency in food quality

    - Clear tables in an efficient and competent manner
    - Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and service areas
    - Assist with receiving and storing food supplies
    - Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations
    - Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow
    - Assist with dishwashing and cleaning duties

    As a Floral Assistant:

    - Receive flower delivers and clean and prep flowers for use

    - Create flower arrangements under the supervision of lead florist

    - Clean floral workspace before and after use

    - Properly care for floral arrangements while awaiting delivery

    - Deliver arrangements to events and stage them appropriately

    - Create large floral installations at events as part of a floral team

    - Carry buckets of flowers and water to and from delivery vehicle

    - Occasionally climb a ladder to assist in floral installation

    - Pickup and deliver decor rental items

    In Music Management:

    - Setup and breakdown DJ equipment at event site

    - Create playlists according to music genres and desired mood

    - Transfer specific songs from one device and format to another

    - Control volume of various microphones and speakers on a DJ system

    - Announce transitions from one event activity to another in a mature voice

    In Catering and Venue Management:

    - Assist the chef in food prep and storage

    - Help keep a clean kitchen at all times

    - Setup and breakdown service areas

    - Assist team with venue cleanup

    - Set dining tables

    - Arrange ceremony chairs

    - Generally straighten and clean venue areas

    In Wedding Coordination & Planning

    - Organize and distribute the order of events and other information needed by team prior to the event

    - Setup and breakdown decor items

    - Greet clients as they arrive and help them get settled in

    - Greet vendors as they arrive and help them get settled in

    - Help lead planner gather VIP guests throughout the day as activities occur

    - Guide guests through transitions of the day

    - Adjust decor and lighting as needed throughout the day

    - Straighten and clean as needed throughout the day

    - Meet clients after the wedding and help them get organized to leave

    - Ensure all vendors have cleaned their areas and left the property

    Experience
    - Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting is preferred
    - Ability to work well in a team environment
    - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
    - Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
    - Excellent communication skills
