Welder joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Being a Welder inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. Additionally, Welder may prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Welder works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

    This position is responsible for track maintenance (constructing, inspecting,andrepairing track); constructing, inspecting, and repairing otherrailroad propertyandfacilities;

    andequipment operation andmaintenance.

    TRACK MAINTENANCE

    Lift and carry track material

    Assist in track maintenance

    TRUCK MAINTENANCE

    Schedule regular service for welding trucks

    Ensure trucks and equipment are in good repair

    Submit necessary paperwork for truck and welding equipment repairs

    WELDER

    Weld, grind, and cut rail

    Operate welding truck safely and efficiently

    Maintain daily records and time sheets

    Subject to on-call, overtime, nights, alternatingshifts, weekends, and holidays

    Travel toandremain on job sites around designated seniority region, sometimes for extended periods of time, sometimes week at a time

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    21years of age or older

    Ability to report for duty at the designated work location

    Able to work safely in the above working conditions

    Able toworkthe above shift / hours

    Ableto meet the above travel requirements

    Able to read, write and communicate (speak, hear and understand) English

    Able to lift and carry up to 60lbsoccasionally

    Possess a valid ClassACommercial Driver's License (CDL) withtest endorsements for combination vehicle, air brake, andHAZMAToramable toobtain one within 60 days of employment

    Able to visually distinguish colors - red, blue, green, yellow, and lunar (clearlight)

    Ability to discriminate and differentiate between verbal and non-verbal sounds (signals, alarms, etc.) in the work environment.

    Able to use handsand hand toolsto perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning and pulling

    Occasionallyclimb on / off equipment

    Able tobend, walk, standand sit for extended time

    Followsafety policies and procedures; wear required personal protective equipment

    TRAINING

    Company-paid on-the-job training, including preparation, equipment and expenses to obtain CDL
