Welder joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Being a Welder inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. Additionally, Welder may prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Welder works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALITIES
- Perform simple flat and horizontal welds and flat groove welds
- Fit and weld subassemblies with tack or spot weld
- Perform measurements within specified tolerances
- Exhibit knowledge of material identification, equipment utilization and welding equipment set-up and maintenance.
- General knowledge of equipment and operations.
- Basic understanding of Weld symbols
- Understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Read a tape measure (imperial and metric).
- Accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.
- Perform work accurately and thoroughly.
- Be truthful and be seen as credible in the workplace.
- Make decisions or take actions to solve a problem or reach a goal.
- Be dependable and trustworthy.
