POSITION TITLE: Summer Program Administrator - Summer Academic Enrichment Program

LOCATION: Reed Intermediate School

START DATE: July 1, 2024

SALARY RANGE: $50/Hour

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certification in Administration (092) required.

• Ability to work and communicate well with children, teens and adults.

• Highly organized and self-motivated.

• Strong knowledge of practices with elementary school aged students required.

• Commitment to promoting a positive culture for students and staff.

• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Newtown Public Schools Summer Program Administrator supports and maintains an effective, safe,
learning environment for the students, parents and staff of the District program. The Administrator takes
position July 1, 2024 in preparation for the program. Overall, the daily position is up to five hours a day. It is a
4-week commitment between July 8, 2024 and August 2, 2024 (the administrator is not scheduled for July 4,
2024). An additional 15-18 hours, intermittently, during the school-year and prior to the program is needed for
planning, interviewing and hiring of staff. Planned time off is strongly discouraged as the administrator helps
oversee the District program.

• Develop and support new opportunities for learning, in alignment with the District’s curriculum and

policies.

• Coordinate curricula with staff and provide guidance to staff during the program.

• Assist in the interview and hiring process of summer school teachers, in conjunction with the Director

of Continuing Education.

• Supervise and evaluate teachers and related staff.

• Identify any problems and generate productive solutions.

• Visit all summer school sites to assure that programs are running smoothly.

• Serves as the liaison between the Office of Continuing Education and the Summer Program.

• Assist with coordinating fire and safety drills at summer school sites with building administrators and

staff.

• Other activities as assigned by the Director of Continuing Education and or Assistant Superintendent of

Schools.
