TITLE: TRANSFER/RECYCLE CENTER CASHIER/ATTENDANT
SALARY: $16/hour. Permanent part time position based on a 28 hour work week, Monday,
Wednesday, Friday & Saturday 8:30AM – 3:30PM.
OBJECTIVES: Under the supervision of the Director of Public Works or the Assistant Recycling
Coordinator, assists and directs town residents to various locations within the
Transfer/Recycling Center. Unloads vehicles, collects cash, operates a cash register, and
reconciles daily receipts using Excel worksheets. Operates equipment as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists and directs town residents within the facilities, unloads vehicles, collects cash, operates
a cash register, sells yearly permits and reconciles daily receipts.
Assists in handling recycle commodities.
Shovels snow when needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Working knowledge of transfer station and recycling operations, related rules and regulations.
Ability to operate cash register, computer, calculator, printer/copier, and scales.
Ability, strength, and stamina to perform duties in adverse weather conditions.
Ability to reconcile daily receipts using Excel worksheets.
Ability to deal effectively with the public.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT OPERATION
Operates a cash register, calculator, computer, scale, snow blower and various hand tools.
REQUIRED PHYSICAL EFFORT
Operates assigned equipment in inclement weather.
Walking and standing for extended periods of time.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum)
High school diploma or equivalent and 3-6 months of related experience including various office
equipment used in Transfer/Recycling Center.
