The main responsibilities of the Wire Puller is to pull wires off of bales of plastic that are being fed into the recycling line. In addition to cutting and pulling the wires, the wire puller will also remove the cardboard around the baled plastic and deposit it into a trash bin. The Wire Puller is also responsible for sweeping and keeping the work area cleared of debris.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Ensures good communication with the forklift operator in keeping the feed line filled with plastic.
• When a bale in placed at the front of the conveyor belt line, the Wire Puller will cut and pull the metal strapping off of the bale and place the metal strapping in a small trash dumpster
• After the metal strapping has been removed from a bale of plastic, the Wire Puller will remove the cardboard sheets on either side of the bale and place the cardboard into the small trash dumpster
• Ensure that plastic that has fallen on the floor area and walkways is continually swept us with a broom and pushed or placed into the feed line of the conveyor.
• Will work around a forklift operator in a tight space, must pay attention to people and forklift traffic in their work area
• Will assist with sweeping and cleaning in other areas when time allows
• Will dump containers swept up from other areas back into the feeder line when time allows
• Required to follow all safety rules and regulations within the facility
• Interfaces with managers and peers to resolve issues

ENVIRONMENT

• Standing and walking on concrete surfaces for the entire shifts.
• Ability to read, hear, speak and understand for problem solving and communication purposes
• Normal hearing and range of vision
• Requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, twisting, pushing, pulling frequently though out the work shift
• Required to occasionally lift various weights throughout the work day up to 65 lbs. – when dumping cans back onto line.
