As the Wire EDM and Toolroom Specialist, you will be responsible for setting up and programming of our EDM equipment, cutting parts and tooling utilizing the Wire EDM machine, and making, repairing, or modifying custom-made products, prototypes, or special tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges to very specific dimensions.
Responsibilities include:
- Programming of the Wire EDM machine
- Set-up and operate the EDM machine to cut parts and tooling
- Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, or dial indicators
- Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies
- Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders (Blanchard – Surface)
- Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools
- Design jigs, fixtures, and templates for use as work aids in the fabrication of parts or products
Qualifications:
- Seeking candidates with a minimum of 2 years previous experience in EDM programming, set-up, and operation as well as experience as a Tool & Die Maker or Toolroom attendant
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- The position requires excellent math skills and the ability to read, interpret, and follow a variety of blueprints, schematics, and work instructions
- Ability to work 10 hours in a physically active and challenging environment that includes but is not limited to; walking, standing, lifting, twisting, turning, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling
- High School Diploma or equivalent required and Tool & Die Maker schooling Die Building/Maintenance, Tool & Die Maker/machinist and/or state indentured journeyman’s card preferred ****Will also consider partial apprenticeships****
Key Information:
- Base pay will vary based on experience and range between $24- $31/hr.
- Working 45- 55-hour work weeks (41-48 hours earns time and a half, 49 double time)
- All candidates will train on our 1st shift for approximately 90 days and may transfer to the 2nd -shift upon completion of the training period.
