Women's Athletics Director directs all facets of a university/college's women's athletic program, including intramural and intercollegiate sports. Manages the entire women's coaching staff. Being a Women's Athletics Director schedules use of facilities, transportation, and sporting events. Also responsible for fundraising, publicity, ticket pricing and distribution, and purchase of new equipment. Additionally, Women's Athletics Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Women's Athletics Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

    Under general supervision, provide assistance to school staff in the prevention of and care for student athletic injuries incurred during practice and games on an as needed basis.  Reports to the school principal and school Athletic Director.

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist athletic staff members in prevention and care of injuries.
    • Assist with treatment for all minor athletic injuries and conditions.
    • Must be knowledgeable in different methods of taping.
    • Execute emergency action plans.
    • Must be present at all athletic events as requested by the school Athletic Director.
    • Responsible for reporting all injuries to the Athletic Director on the proper forms.
    • Shall perform all other duties assigned by the Athletic Director.
    • The First Responder shall not be permitted to coach or assist in coaching any sports while serving as a First Responder.
    •  Communicate with the High School Trainer and athletic director whenever asked or as needed.

     

    MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

    • High School Diploma Required.
    • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License required.
    • Four years separation from High School is required.
    • Must hold CPR and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) Certification (may complete soon after hire).
    • Must complete the Concussion Training and Sudden Cardiac Arrest Certification through the National Fundamentals of High School (NFHS.com) before being approved to work with student athletes (may complete after hire, but before you work with students).

    PHYSICAL AND COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Perform very heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects.
    • Walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel and crouch.
    • Communicate effectively to individuals or groups of people with poise, voice control and confidence.
    • Work in various inside and outside environments being subjected to weather changes, atmospheric conditions, noise, vibrations, and job hazards.
    • Use visual acuity required for depth perception and color perception.
    • Use a variety of athletic equipment.
    • Operate machines, motor vehicles and job-specific equipment and tools.
    • Determine the accuracy and thoroughness of work.
    • Observe general surroundings and activities.
    • Hear sufficiently to accurately perceive information at normally spoken word levels.
    • Work safely in situations of exposure to blood borne pathogens, which may require specialized personal protective equipment.
    • Prepare, read and comprehend a variety of job-related forms, reports and documentation.
    • Perform under stress, deal with persons acting under stress, and adapt when confronted with emergencies. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a first responder encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work is performed in the school and athletic fields.
