Women's Athletics Director directs all facets of a university/college's women's athletic program, including intramural and intercollegiate sports. Manages the entire women's coaching staff. Also responsible for fundraising, publicity, ticket pricing and distribution, and purchase of new equipment. Additionally, Women's Athletics Director requires a bachelor's degree.     BASIC FUNCTION: Oversee all operations, programs, and teams in the areas of recreation and athletics.
    Provide direction and oversight for the entire athletic department.
    Monitor budget, scheduling, and needs of coaches, student-athletes, staff, students, and community members.
    Promote and maintain recreation and athletics to facilitate and enhance the campus community for students, faculty, staff, and community members.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Required – Completion of Bachelor’s Degree in exercise and sport science, sports management health and wellness, community health and education, recreational services, or related field. Experience directing, managing, and leading others. Basic computer skills.
    Preferred – Master’s degree in exercise and sport science, sports management, health and wellness, community health and education, recreational services, or related field. Bilingual in English and Spanish languages.

    ● Fitness/recreation facility management experience in a supervisory capacity.

    ● Capable of gathering facts, analyzing data, and justifying decisions.
    ● CPR and First Aid certification.

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Provide strategic oversight for Athletics and Recreation/LLRC.
    2. Work with Recreation/LLRC staff to develop and coordinate all wellness and recreation programs in the LLRC.
    3. Coordinate staff, work schedules, and assignments, including but not limited to front desk staff, group fitness instructors, personal trainers, recreation staff, custodial/maintenance staff, etc.
    4. Coordinate staff training and ensure maintenance of certification requirements.
    5. Work with custodial and maintenance staff to ensure building maintenance, proper cleanliness, and equipment maintenance for Recreation/LLRC and Athletics.
    6. Work effectively within a team environment.
    7. Support the Student Activities and Housing Coordinator in planning and implementing various student activities/co-curricular activities.
    8. Coordinate staff training and ensure maintenance of certification requirements.
    9. Conduct staff and committee meetings as appropriate.
    10. Foster a learning environment to help staff develop as professionals and achieve their highest potential.
    11. Conduct and approve staff evaluations following established policies.
    12. Recommend and approve the hiring, retention, advancement, discipline, and dismissal of all personnel within the Recreation/LLRC and Athletics areas.
    13. Supervise coaching staff.
    14. Facilitate meetings at the beginning of each semester with coaches and athletes regarding participation and program expectations.
    15. Sets policies and procedures pertaining to department activities.
    16. Identify and solve problems as they arise, including risk and crisis management.
    17. Mediate student conduct concerns and resolve conflicts, problems, and relations with students and staff within the Recreation/LLRC and Athletics areas.
    18. Assist with compliance issues related to the areas of oversight. Oversee the monitoring of financial aid and academic progress of student-athletes as well as ensuring eligibility requirements.
    19. Collaborate with admissions, registrar’s office, and other academic/student services offices to ensure student-athlete success.
    20. Communicate with the campus community and LLRC patrons on activities in the LLRC.
    21. Work with the Marketing department director and team to coordinate marketing/advertising/recruiting plans annually and collaborate with the Marketing department to create marketing/advertising materials such as print ads, radio ads, flyers, and social media campaigns.
    22. Coordinate website information and social media accounts for Recreation/LLRC and Athletics.
    23. Collaborate with Marketing Department on athletics’ media relations and sports information duties such as press releases, athletics website administration, and production of game day and athletics publications/materials.
    24. Participate in long-range institutional and facility planning with other College administrators, faculty, and staff.
    25. Develop and support meaningful connections between the curricular and co-curricular offerings of the College.
    26. Develop and monitor strategies to achieve a campus environment that encourages collegiate civility and school pride.
    27. Be familiar with Northwest Iowa Community College policies and procedures.
    28.Provide strategic oversight for the institutional effectiveness and outcomes assessment of Recreation/LLRC and Athletics areas.
    29.Communicate athletics’ philosophy and goals with NCC administration, faculty, staff, student-athletes, and alumni.
    30.Develop partnerships in the community that are relevant to current assignments.
    31.Participate in professional development activities that support the position.
    32.Serve on various internal and external committees to carry out the College’s mission,philosophy, goals, and objectives.
    33.Participate in community groups such as the Sheldon Chamber and Development Corporation to represent the LLRC, NCC Athletics, the College, and its interests.
    34.Maintain a strong relationship with the Sheldon Community School District and the City of Sheldon.
    35.Collaborate with Advancement Department on fundraising efforts, athletics scholarships,alumni relations, and other support groups.
    36.Advocate for NCC athletics in the community and serves as the college’s principal representative in intercollegiate athletics.
    37.Serve as one of the College’s Title IX Investigators and support Title IX compliance and coordination.
    38.Set and monitor budgets for Recreation/LLRC and Athletics.
    39.Recommend the selection and ongoing purchasing of equipment and supplies.
    40.Develop, implement, and monitor individual sports budgets alongside coaching staff.
    41.Manage various daily athletics operations including but not limited to scheduling transportation,facilities scheduling, eligibility processes, student-athlete form/information management,maintaining records, press releases, etc.
    42.Quickly address issues that may arise, forecast future needs, and manage and direct Recreation/LLRC and Athletics operations and activities.
    Manage a master schedule for all events and facility use.
    43.Monitor the scheduling of athletic facilities and events.
    44.Event planning and management for athletics competitions and events.
    45.Secure necessary arrangements for media, officials, statisticians, press box, and other gameday personnel for home competitions.
    46.Maintain knowledge of NJCAA, ICCAC, and other governing bodies’ rules and by-laws.
    47.Certifies compliance with NJCAA, College, and ICCAC policies, rules, and regulations.
    48.Participate in local, state, and national professional development activities that support the position.
    49.Attend local, state, and national meetings as a representative of the College.
    50.Collaborate with the coaching staff, Marketing Department, and Admissions Department to support recruitment efforts and encourage increased enrollment.
    51.Participate in the College’s Enrollment Group, collaborating on marketing, promotion,recruiting, retention, financial aid, and scholarship strategies within the frameworks of the strategic enrollment plan, recruitment plan, and retention plan related to athletics.
    52.Perform other duties as assigned by Dean of Students.
    53.Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to facilitate a positive and successful experience at NCC for all student-athletes.

    WAGE/SALARY RANGE: Starting salary $56,160 – $67,500 dependent upon experience and education.
