Women's Athletics Director directs all facets of a university/college's women's athletic program, including intramural and intercollegiate sports. Manages the entire women's coaching staff. Being a Women's Athletics Director schedules use of facilities, transportation, and sporting events. Also responsible for fundraising, publicity, ticket pricing and distribution, and purchase of new equipment. Additionally, Women's Athletics Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Women's Athletics Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. JOB GOAL: To provide each student an opportunity to participate in an extracurricular athletic activity that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of athletic competition, and the principles of good sportsmanship and fair play. IV. QUALIFICATIONS College degree in Sports Management or related field preferred Experience in k-12 education Prior experience with athletics, especially coaching Budgetary experience Fundraising experience Strong public relations and marketing Background Proficiency with technology and social media Strong organizational skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills Supervisory experience preferred V. SUPERVISES: Head and Assistant Coaches and part-time Athletic Staff VI. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Athletics is responsible for all facets of the Clinton Public Schools Athletics programs including but not limited to: Organizes and administers the overall Athletic Programs for the High School and Middle School; Holds seasonal student-athlete and parent meetings to review policies and procedures; Works with principals and coaches to recruit current students to participate in athletics; Provides leadership in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of athletic coaches and athletic related staff; Observes some practices as well as games for all coaches; Provides a written evaluation for all coaches; Communicates information and promotes the athletic department through the use of technology and social media Holds regular meetings with the coaches to keep them to keep them up-to-date on athletic related matters; Supervises athletic facilities; Prepares and administers the CPS athletic budget; Plans and coordinates all seasonal athletic department fundraising events; Assumes responsibility for the organization and scheduling of all interscholastic athletic events; Represents the School Department for all athletic business at Midland Wachusett League, District E, MIAA, and other relevant meetings; Enforces all applicable MIAA athletic rules and regulations and School Department policies; Coordinates bus transportation for all athletic events; Acts as Site Director for all MIAA activities assigned to the School Department; Attends Home Varsity and J.V. games; Checks on all Freshmen and 7th & 8th Grade games; Ensures that officials are in place for all contests and designates a coach and/or administrator to supervise an activity when Athletic Director departs contest site; Submits to League Commissioners a schedule of home events so officials can be assigned for all contests; Hires personnel to work at home varsity games; Releases publicity to local media concerning athletic activities and student athletes; Organizes the collection of money at home athletic contests, deposits this money in bank, and gives the bank receipt to Town Treasurer; Supervises and enforces the User Fee Policy Summarizes athletic receipts and expenses for home varsity games; Organizes Annual High School Sports Banquet; Submits a list of athletes to High School Principal so eligibility can be determined; Arranges for doctor or EMT for home varsity and J.V. Football games; Keeps an up to date inventory of athletic equipment, oversees its maintenance and storage, and orders equipment, as needed; Attends School Committee meetings as directed by Superintendent and/or Principal Completes reports as requested by Superintendent and/or Principal The Director of Athletics may not hold another coaching position during the school year Collaborates with Clinton Athletics Booster Club for all fundraising events and requests TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position will be on an individual administrative contract to be negotiated. Exact hours, salary, and length of contract are negotiable depending on qualifications. EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated by the High and Middle School Principals and/or Superintendent.
