Wood Machine Operator sets-up and operates a wood machine. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Being a Wood Machine Operator may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Wood Machine Operator relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. POSITION SUMMARY
The Stacker Operator is responsible for moving material through the stacker (incising where applicable), sticking and de-sticking while maintaining environmental and safety compliance at all times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
Work with a safety mindset at all times.
Ensure all environmental and safety procedures are followed and report all unsafe or non-compliant.
Move material across stacker in a safe and productive manner without sacrificing quality.
Watch Stacker Crew before actuating machine parts to ensure they are in a safe position.
Ensure stamps are correct for the material and are legible on the wood.
Supervise performance of Stacker Crew and ensure jobs are performed correctly and efficiently.
Keep stacker area clean throughout the day.
Know emergency response procedures and be able to help in emergency situations.
Attend all training sessions and safety meetings.
Other duties as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required.
Ability to learn safe operation of equipment.
Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
Ability to learn about treatments, lumber and plywood sizes, grades, and species.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve problems.
Ability to communicate effectively with others.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
Ability to demonstrate behaviors conforming to Hoover’s set of values and accepted standards.
Ability to be internally inspired to perform a task to the best of one’s ability using his or her own drive or initiative.
