1st Shift Shaver/ Log Yard Operator

American Wood Fibers (AWF) is a manufacturer of both consumer and industrial products that are sold to multiple manufacturers as well as pet, agricultural, and home-heating markets. AWF is comprised of 450 employees and holds operations at 11 locations, generating over $100M in annual sales revenue. We are currently seeking a candidate for the 1st Shift Shaver/Log Yard Operator role in our Clarks, NE facility.

JOB SUMMARY

The Shaver/Log Yard Operator is responsible for: log yard organization, loading/unloading trucks, assisting with production via the shaving system, and basic maintenance of equipment and shaving system.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

I. PRODUCTION

· Operate equipment such as knuckle boom and front-end loader

· Unload log trucks as they arrive, maneuvering logs to various locations within the log yard to organize and create rows

· Perform outside duties, including sweeping and picking up debris

· Feed logs into shaver boxes

· Maintain equipment and shaving system as needed

II. SAFETY

· Inspect all equipment prior to use

· Exercise caution in the production area due to mobile equipment moving the finished product out of the production area

· Attend monthly safety meetings

· Attend safety trainings as needed and complete required testing with sufficient results

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience within the logging industry
• Previous equipment operations experience
• Wheel loader and/or log loader experience is a plus
• Must be able to communicate with fellow employees

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

· Ability to lift 50 lbs.

• Physical capability to bend over, squat, walk, stand, and stoop

EXPERIENCE

Industrial Machine Operating: 1 Year (Preferred)

COMPENSATION

$20.00 - $22.00 per hour
