Workers' Compensation Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing a company's workers' compensation program. Implements all matters of the program, including claim investigations, settlements, and litigation. Being a Workers' Compensation Manager establishes standards and procedures for all matters relating to workers' compensation. Responsible for finding an insurance provider that meets organizational goals of employee coverage and cost effectiveness. Additionally, Workers' Compensation Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of unit/department. The Workers' Compensation Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Workers' Compensation Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     About the Position:
    The City of Grand Junction is seeking a collaborative, solution-driven team member who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can easily pivot on competing priorities and deadlines. As a Worker's Compensation and Property Liability Claims Specialist, you will coordinate the City's workers' compensation and property liability claims. In addition, you'll coordinate the random drug screen program and assist with a variety of human resources projects.     Duties

    What You'll Do:

    • Coordinate, process, and administer workers’ compensation and property liability claims activities.
    • Provide coordination among departments and applicable agencies.
    • Participate in the review and evaluation of claims reporting and procedures.
    • Respond to requests for information, employee inquiries, or concerns and complaints from the public or outside agencies regarding workers’ compensation and property liability policies and procedures.
    • Conduct informational meetings and provide advice to management and employees.

    Qualifications

    What We're Looking For:

    • Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in human resources or risk management.
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in human resources, business administration, public administration, or a related field.
    • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver's license.
    Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
