Workers' Compensation Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing a company's workers' compensation program. Implements all matters of the program, including claim investigations, settlements, and litigation. Being a Workers' Compensation Manager establishes standards and procedures for all matters relating to workers' compensation. Responsible for finding an insurance provider that meets organizational goals of employee coverage and cost effectiveness. Additionally, Workers' Compensation Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of unit/department. The Workers' Compensation Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Workers' Compensation Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • The Workers’ Compensation Reinsurance Association (WCRA), a nonprofit association providing workers’ compensation reinsurance protection to all Minnesota insurers and self-insurers, is seeking an individual to join our finance team in the position of Accounting Generalist.

    Location: Hybrid position, individual would work in the Saint Paul office on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The remaining three days may be worked remotely, following position training.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Accounts Receivable and Payable

    • Ownership of the accounts payable workflow.
    • Prepare accounts payable invoices for entry and initiate payments.
    • Track and maintain recurring invoice schedule to assure vendors are paid in a timely manner.
    • Maintain W9s and prepare 1099’s.
    • Respond to member and staff inquiries concerning invoices.
    • Assist with monthly billing and collections processes.
    • Process daily cash receipts and post member payments.

    General Accounting

    • Perform recurring monthly journal entries.
    • Work with the controller to review and research monthly financial closing issues and document findings.
    • Support annual and monthly WCRA budget processes through data gathering, research, and tracking.
    • Assist controller with monthly financial processes.

    Assist with Investment-Related Functions

    • Document and reconcile investment activities on a quarterly basis.
    • Perform monthly investment manager fee reconciliation.
    • Summarize weekly private equity data.
    • Compile monthly investment data for reports.
    • Maintain various investment tracking spreadsheets.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    • Degree in Accounting or Business Administration
    • Strong technology skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced proficiency in Excel, and an aptitude and willingness to learn specialized software including e-billing platforms, NetSuite accounting system, and other systems as needed.
    • Experience processing accounts payable or receivable.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong attention to detail combined with exceptional accuracy.
    • Well organized
    • Data entry and word processing skills
    • Aptitude for numbers
    • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports
    • Team player who will collaborate with other members of the Finance Department to promote seamless service to WCRA members and personnel.
