Position Overview:
Maple Street School seeks a dynamic and experienced Director of Marketing and Communications to effectively communicate the school's mission, values, and achievements to our community and beyond. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a passion for education and a proven track record of successful marketing campaigns. Reporting to the Head of School, the Director of Marketing & Communications builds and fosters relationships with constituents and enhances the school’s public image and brand. Primary responsibilities include creating and implementing public relations, advocacy, outreach and community relations, marketing, and communications strategies; executing school events; as well as managing both internal and external school communications.
Primary responsibilities include:
● Work with the Head of School to identify messaging priorities, establish
style sheets, and implement logo and branding strategy.
● Craft messaging for consistency across departments from Head of School through admissions, educational programming, and advancement. Lead and execute the marketing strategy for admissions.
● Serve as the school's messaging contact for external communications and press inquiries.
● Write and publish Friday News to the Maple Street community.
● Coordinate and plan student-centered events (Halloween, dances, etc.) that will showcase the Maple Street community.
● Support Director of Advancement in the executing of events. This includes negotiating contracts with outside vendors, site management, writing and design of invitations, programs, posters, display sheets, design of events, etc.
● Direct social media efforts and maintain efforts to engage current families, prospective families, alumni, alumni parents, and friends on these platforms, targeting each respective audience weekly.
● Represent the school’s priorities and work with committees and constituent groups including: Board, Faculty, Parents Association, and other groups as deemed important by the Head of School.
● Manage website and content. Update and improve systems when deemed a priority by the Head of School. Conduct a seasonal audit of the website.
● Manage all aspects of annual publications from writing, photography, design and production, printing, and mailing management, including: newsletters, annual report, admission publications, fundraising publications, artwork calendar, advertisements, marketing publications, event publications, etc. Publish an annual newsletter around Thanksgiving.
● Write press releases and maintain relationships with local media. Foster a culture of promotion of the school within the Northshire community, both in the media and with the local community.
● Manage all aspects of ParentSquare as the primary communication tool with the Maple Street parent community.
● Coordinate the operation of the school store, which entails managing inventory, placing orders, etc.
