eCommerce Strategy Manager implements the policies and plans to execute the overall vision, strategy, and capacity needed to support organizational long-term and short-term e-commerce sales growth goals. Provides support for evaluating e-commerce investments & initiatives and facilitates the development of business cases and marketing plans. Being an eCommerce Strategy Manager compiles data and analytics to study traffic, trends, customer touchpoints, and pain points used to analyze opportunities for innovation and expansion of customer engagement and revenue. Partners with stakeholders across the organization to optimize digital channels. Additionally, eCommerce Strategy Manager plans and implements technical projects for improvements to customer experience, new e-commerce features and offerings. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The eCommerce Strategy Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an eCommerce Strategy Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The Advising Strategy Manager serves Jayhawk Academic Advising (JAA) at the University of Kansas. This position assists the JAA leadership team in implementing effective student-centered advising approaches, reviews enrollment trends, policies, and programs, and develops and implements initiatives that affect student retention. The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated experience working with projects that require strategic thinking, a background in academic advising, knowledge of advising technologies and student development and advising theories, enjoy multi-tasking, and bring a positive, collaborative attitude to the office.

    Jayhawk Academic Advising is a part of the Centers for Orientation and Academic Advising Programs, a unit reporting to the Vice Provost for Academic Success. JAA provides comprehensive academic advising services for new and currently enrolled undergraduate students in all undergraduate majors and selected graduate programs across the University and is staffed by professional advisors, support staff, and graduate assistants.

    Job Description

    50% - Advising Interventions, Programming and Outreach
    • Develop, maintain and help to implement advising services positioned to best meet student need in JAA.
    • Through use of the existing advising technologies in place (KU advising tool, degree progress report, Jayhawk GPS, Tableau, Oracle Analytics Cloud, etc.), review enrollment trends, university policies, and programs that impact student retention. Develop, implement, and review initiatives that increase engagement with advising. Monitor student progression and enrollment. Facilitate outreach initiatives that impact student retention.
    • Support new student orientation efforts through strategy and logistical efforts related to campus-wide daily advising schedules, major changes, and assistance with enrollment challenges.
    • Provide regular and ongoing support to assistant directors so they can ensure accountability to JAA priorities.
    • Work closely with Student Communications Coordinator to manage the JAA student outreach annual calendar and support timely and appropriate student outreach such as: early semester welcome communication; graduation planning for students at various credit hour accrual levels; support for students on Academic Probation or in financial aid warning/ineligible status; major exploration and advisor relationship-building meetings; future semester enrollment; non-enrolled student outreach; and graduation completion review efforts.
    • Coordinate enrollment outreach and approach taking into consideration different outreach opportunities (e.g., central messaging, advisor campaigns, efforts of partners in Academic Success and Enrollment Management) and advisor availability (e.g., adjusting staffing levels needed to meet demand for different service modalities, timing outreach to align with availability).
    50% - Leadership Team Support
    • Provide planning, coordination, and logistical support to implement advising services in accordance with leadership team’s vision.
    • Assist JAA leadership team in examining and continuously improving advising service array to ensure modalities and available services meet student needs.
    • Identify barriers for students and bring to leadership team to make strategic decisions.
    • Work closely with Academic Success Technologies Manager to maximize use and capabilities of advising technologies.
    • Work closely with leadership team to develop JAA goals, assessment summaries, and feedback loops to relevant stakeholders.
    • Represent JAA on committees, workgroups, and in meetings as needed or assigned by the Director.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience working directly with students in higher education.
    • Experience working with institutional data, predictive analytics, or data analysis in a higher education setting.
    • Prior experience utilizing enterprise level academic advising systems or technologies.
    • Excellent written communication skills as evidenced by application materials.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling Psychology or closely related field
    • Experience providing academic advising to undergraduate students in a formal capacity
    • Prior work experience or formal coursework in data science
    • Prior work experience coordinating large scale initiatives or project management experience
    • Prior experience working on initiatives to increase retention and degree completion of first-generation students, Pell-eligible students, or students of color.
