Academic Advising Director directs the academic advising department, its processes, and its advisors. Being an Academic Advising Director assists Dean or Associate Dean in the preparation and implementation of department wide goals, procedures, and controls. Analyzes existing goals and programs and recommends improvements. Additionally, Academic Advising Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to the associate dean. The Academic Advising Director manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be an Academic Advising Director typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Job Description:

    Applications are now being accepted for the position of Director of Advising for Colorado Early Colleges. This charter school is part of a network of high schools and a middle school located throughout Colorado that provides students in grades 9-12 with the opportunity to start working on college-level courses as soon as they are ready, earning a combination of high school and college credits as they pursue both a high school diploma and an Associate’s Degree or higher at no cost to the student.

    Major Duties and Responsivities:

    20% Administrative Duties

    ADVISING

    • Course advising and registration in accordance with CEC Graduation Requirements and Academic Course requirements
    • Course advising with assigned students and parent/guardians per semester to develop and support student’s 4-year Individual Academic and Career and Plan (ICAP)
    • Support students with letters of recommendation, FAFSA, college applications)
    • Create assigned student schedules per semester and maintain accurate records in student information system
    • Maintain student and parent/guardian contact as appropriate through in-person contact, mail, telephone, email, or other computer-mediated systems.
    • Coordinate, present and/or participate in various information sessions (FAFSA Night, Warrior Launch Day Orientation, Senior Night, etc.)

    SUPERVISION

    • Meet regularly with other advisors to ensure quality and consistency throughout the advising process
    • Ensure policies and procedures are being followed and are clearly communicated
    • Conduct team meetings
    • Conduct one on one meetings with each advisor
    • Observe advising appointments
    • Arrange professional development and training opportunities to Advising Team
    • Disseminate information from leadership to advising team

    ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES

    • Build and maintain relationships with partner secondary institutions and local and out of state colleges and universities.
    • Coordinate with the Registrar on enrollment and mutual deadlines
    • Attend student recruitment events as necessary
    • Assist with Accuplacer testing
    • Coordinate with Business Manager to ensure accurate tuition and billing
    • Collaborate with instructors to support student academic success
    • Collaborate with MTSS team
    • Attend weekly leadership meetings
    • Assist Admissions team in coordinating and implementing Warrior Launch Day for incoming students
    • Review the course grid with the Academic Dean every semester and provide feedback on course placement
    • Meet weekly with Head of School to discuss advising programming/plans

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning
    • 3-5 years’ experience providing academic/administrative support to high school and/or college students
    • 1 year experience supervising a team
    • Experience with diverse populations
    • Bilingual Preferred
    • Experience with concurrent enrollment

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:

    • Solution-Focused with excellent problem-solving skills
    • Demonstrated experience working on a team of professionals who share responsibilities and goals in support of student education
    • Organized and efficient; able to implement department policies and procedures
    • Must have excellent customer service skills that result in supportive and effective interaction with team members, current and prospective students, their parents, and school staff members
    • Experience creating and maintaining partnerships with post-secondary institutions

    COMPUTER AND OFFICE SKILLS:

    • Proficient with general computer functions such as Office 365 and Microsoft Office
    • Experience with Infinite Campus is strongly preferred
    • Must have sufficient computer keyboard typing speed with reliable accuracy to keep up with student data entry, email, and document creation workload of this position.
