Academic Advising Director directs the academic advising department, its processes, and its advisors. Works closely with academic advisors to ensure that a proactive and high-quality approach is taken with all students advising needs. Being an Academic Advising Director assists Dean or Associate Dean in the preparation and implementation of department wide goals, procedures, and controls. Analyzes existing goals and programs and recommends improvements. Additionally, Academic Advising Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to the associate dean. The Academic Advising Director manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be an Academic Advising Director typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     This position reports to the Computer and Data Sciences Department Chair and leads the BS and MS Programs in IT.

    This is an exciting opportunity to leave your mark on the future of Information Technology education at Merrimack College. The Founding Academic Program Director for the Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Information Technology programs will collaborate with a cohesive team and play the leading role in developing and shaping the curricula in information technology. The ideal candidate will be keenly aware of emerging trends and have expertise in innovative program building to meet evolving industry needs. Housed in the School of Engineering and Computational Sciences, this full-time, open-rank non-tenure track position reports directly to the Department Chair, offering a compelling opportunity to contribute to a thriving academic enterprise.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
    • Develop, oversee, and continually refine the BS and MS in Information Technology programs curricula, ensuring they align with industry standards and emerging trends.
    • Provide visionary leadership in program development, assessment, and strategic planning.
    • Recruit, hire, and mentor faculty members, fostering a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.
    • Coordinate and supervise faculty, ensuring effective delivery of courses and adherence to program objectives.
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with industry professionals, promoting partnerships and internship opportunities for students.
    • Mentor and advise students, guiding career paths, internships, and opportunities.
    • Stay current with emerging trends and advancements in information technology to ensure program content is up-to-date and aligned with industry needs.
    • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to promote interdisciplinary initiatives and experiential learning opportunities.
    • Teach 24 credits spread across fall, spring, and summer terms.
    • Manage the program budget.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • MS in Information Technology, Information Science, or a related field.
    • Up-to-date IT certifications such as Network , CompTIA, or Security .
    • Demonstrated excellence, or potential for, teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
    • Proven ability to think strategically and implement innovative program development and improvement approaches.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 
    • Effective use of technology in the classroom.
    • Demonstrated interest in and experience with innovative pedagogies.
    • Understanding of and experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion issues in STEM and beyond.
