Academic Advising Director directs the academic advising department, its processes, and its advisors. Works closely with academic advisors to ensure that a proactive and high-quality approach is taken with all students advising needs. Being an Academic Advising Director assists Dean or Associate Dean in the preparation and implementation of department wide goals, procedures, and controls. Analyzes existing goals and programs and recommends improvements. Additionally, Academic Advising Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to the associate dean. The Academic Advising Director manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.     The Education Advising Director will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive advising system (starting with prospective students and ending with career placement) for undergraduate and graduate Education students.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Along with faculty, advises a group of undergraduate and graduate students and connects students with additional resources whenever necessary.
    Advises incoming and new graduate students, including through the creation of a plan of study and a review of their transcript (if needed).
    Updates and maintains Education-related advising documents for access by students, faculty, and staff across the college.
    Creates a system to update and maintain documents that specifies the ways in which Education students meet state requirements, including Subject Matter Knowledge (SMK) standards and Professional Standards for Teachers (PSTs).
    Attends Department or College committee meetings as requested or assigned.

    Job Requirements:
    Degree of at least Bachelors level or equivalent; Masters degree preferred.
    Minimum one year experience working with undergraduate and/or graduate students, ideally in some type of advising role.
    Strong familiarity with online and collaborative tools, such as those in Learning Management Systems, College registration systems, and document sharing.
    Ability to work with faculty, staff, and students in a college setting.
    Strong attention to detail.

    Additional Information:
    This is a part-time (18 hour/week) non-benefited position, paying $35.00/hour up to a maximum of $33,000 annually.
