Additionally, Academic Support Coordinator typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Academic Support Coordinator gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Position may be converted from 11-month to 9-month, based on program/operational needs.
     
    Duties & Responsibilities: 

    1. Under the direction of the Nursing Faculty or Assigned Supervisor, perform technical and professional work in an instructional lab setting in the subject of Nursing Education.
    2. Assist with and set up all skills labs, practice sessions and on-campus labs offered in Nursing courses.
    3. Ensure the availability of properly functioning equipment and supplies in relation to manufacturer recommendations
    4. Maintain warranties and renewals for all equipment
    5. Perform routine equipment repair and handling of hazardous wastes.
    6. Maintain instructional laboratories in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
    7. Order, receive, catalog and store supplies, materials and equipment
    8. Maintain inventories; ensure adequate quantities are available.
    9. Assist with simulation activities in the Nursing Simulation Lab with low and high-fidelity manikins.
    10. Lift manikins and equipment.
    11. Perform routine record-keeping, clerical duties, such as answering phone calls, message taking, provide information regarding the Nursing Program, greet the general public, etc.
    12. Other Duties as Assigned
    Minimum Qualifications:  
    Education and Professional Work Experience
    • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration, Nursing, health Science, Biology or related field AND one (1) year of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for Healthcare; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated. 
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    1. Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of Healthcare demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
    2. Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with Healthcare.
    3. Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area of Technical / Skill Laboratory setting.
    4. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
    5. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
    6. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply software including Microsoft Office.
