About This Role

This position can be based in our Manchester, NH or Boston office. This is a 'hands-on' role with no direct reports.

At AV, the Accounting Director is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting processes, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements under the direction of the firm’s CFO. This position will address tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and support of budgeting and forecasting activities. The Accounting Director will have contact with executives as well as department heads and all AV teammates which requires strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of AV’s financial reporting and general ledger structure.
• Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
• Ensure the accurate and timely production of monthly financial reporting.
• Ensure the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Collaborate with the other finance department teammates to support overall department goals and objectives.
• Responds to inquiries from the CFO, as well as other executives and teammates as appropriate.
• Work with the CFO to ensure a clean and timely year end audit.
• Support CFO with special projects and workflow process improvements.
• Ensure expense reimbursement process addressing platform’s needs and ability to manage activity spend.
• Serve as a partner supporting the HR Team with respect to payroll requirements, 401K true-ups and other related items.
• Ensure proper accounting treatment for all equity and debt activity with supporting schedules and backup files.
• Ensure timely production and completion of all year-end filings (Form 5500, 1099s, etc.).
• Maintain familiarity with GAAP and FASB standards, and tax regulations.
• Contribute positively to AV’s culture and team, role modeling AV values and working consistently toward North Stars.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred.
• 8 years of accounting experience.
• Well-versed in technical accounting considerations.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, including strong Excel modeling skills.
• Proficient with ERP systems, strong knowledge of NetSuite preferred.
• Familiarity with expense management systems.
• Effective and professional communication skills (written and verbal).
• Highly detail oriented and organized.
• Ability to meet strict and frequent deadlines.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Adapts quickly in a fast-paced environment; works well under pressure.
