Summary/Objective:
The accounts payable specialist is responsible for the payment of goods and services purchased by the organization. This role also serves as an auditor, ensuring that invoices are accurate and that proper accounting procedures are followed for the purchasing and payment of goods and services.
Essential Job Functions:
The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for the processing of checks, debit memos, and report processing and is also responsible for invoice matching and entry and follow-through on the entire A/P process. This person must be present in the office on a consistent basis, 40 hours per week.
The day-to-day responsibilities of the Accounts Payable Specialist will include:
· Three-way matching
· Vouchering
· Prepare daily accounts payable invoices for processing
· Processing Check Runs
· Prepare Wire Transfers
· Processing Debit Memos
· Process EFT and check payment batches
· Research/Resolve invoice discrepancies
· Obtain internal approvals for invoices with purchase price variance
· Expense Report Processing
· Respond to internal and external supplier inquiries
· Familiarity with EDI processing
· Invoice Filing
· Basic account reconciliation/journal entry preparation
Requirements
Required Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or GED required.
· Two years of previous experience in full cycle accounts payable.
· Associates Degree preferred.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Working knowledge of Excel/MS Office.
· Multitasking and task prioritization.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
· Excellent interpersonal skills required.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands:
This is largely a sedentary/sitting role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, M-F.
