Addiction Mental Health Assessor jobs in Minnesota

Addiction Mental Health Assessor conducts initial and ongoing assessments of patients in Alcohol and Drug (AoD) addiction programs to determine mental health needs and establish care requirements. Provides initial treatment and refers clients to appropriate agencies/providers as needed. Being an Addiction Mental Health Assessor works with patients and families to develop appropriate chemical dependency service plans. Complies with standards in the area of evaluation, assessment, treatment, and service delivery to clients. Additionally, Addiction Mental Health Assessor requires certification as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) or similar. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Addiction Mental Health Assessor's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     This is an exciting leadership opportunity within our Triage and Transition teams that provides oversight for care to mental health patients who have sought services within the Emergency Department and the innovative EmPATH unit at Fairview Southdale. This position plans, manages, coordinates and evaluates patient care activities of assigned area including resource management, quality, regulatory compliance, educational opportunities, and financial management.  Serves as a leader and role model to all staff.  Maintains clinical competencies of staff. Ensures clinical oversight for all clinical staff and services. Provides best practice clinical direction for unit programming. Continually seeks opportunities to enhance care delivery.

     


    Responsibilities Job Description

    Manages the day-to-day operations of assigned area(s) to ensure support of the mission, goals, and objectives of assigned area(s) and Fairview Health Services.

    • Utilizes structured process in problem solving.,
    • Serves as a role model for staff.
    • Manages change using a planned, orderly approach.
    • Demonstrates ability to implement problem-solving mechanisms in both routine and emergency situations.
    • Delegates appropriate tasks to staff.
    • Ensures implementation and development of standards of practice in patient care that reflect valid research findings.
    • Incorporates research findings in planning activities for assigned area(s).

    Demonstrates clinical competence in the treatment planning process. 

    Provides clinical oversight for programming and clinical staff

    • Advances clinical best practice standards for all clinical programs and services
    • Provides clinical supervision for all program staff.
    • Insures appropriate clinical training and clinical supervision/oversight for interns and unlicensed providers.
    • Provides and supports clinical and operational management of specialty services.
      Insures effective provision of clinical triage and crisis management systems as indicated.

     

    Responsible for human resources management for assigned area(s) to achieve quality service and positive employee relations.

    • Implements and communicates Human Resources policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
    • Selects top talent, matching organizational needs with appropriate skill sets.
    • Conducts timely employee performance appraisals.
    • Uses corrective discipline in accordance with applicable policy or union contract to mitigate workplace behavior problems.
    • Selects qualified employees for employment according to Human Resources policy.
    • Monitors employee overtime, absenteeism and takes appropriate action to identify and correct issues.
    • Provides oversight and ensures completion of training for employees, including orientation, in-services and competency validation as required by regulatory agencies, department and unit standards.
    • Plans and approves unit staff hour schedules according to pre-established parameters.

     

    Responsible for effective fiscal management of assigned area(s) to ensure proper utilization of financial resources.

    • Develops and/or provides input into budget for assigned area(s) according to established procedures.
    • Maintains appropriate staffing levels as evidenced by budgetary analysis and/or unit indicators.
    • Investigates and suggests alternatives to the established budget based on cost effective use of resources.
    • Utilizes financial resources within an established budget. Seeks approval for variances as needed.
    • Pursues cost savings and method for revenue generation within area and responsibility and/or recommends savings for other areas.
    • Maintains an appropriate inventory of budgeted supplies and equipment that meets the demands of assigned area(s).
    • Educates patient care team members on financial implications of patient care decisions.

     

    Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates the quality improvement program for the department.

    • Ensures development of a written plan that identifies measurable elements (indicators) of quality.
    • Ensures that a process for collecting, monitoring and reporting quality data exists for assigned area.
    • Ensures that there is a plan for correction of negative conditions that have been determined by collection of quality data on assigned area.
    • Communicates quality data and to seeks out opportunities to improve patient care and ensures understanding of the data and its importance.
    • Annually establishes unit-based plan as part of department quality improvement program.
    • Incorporates incident reports, patient questionnaires and statements, and physician comments into quality process.
    • Provides a written report as requested to the appropriate director. The report summarizes identified problems, actions, and results to improve patient care.

     

    Responsible for communication within the assigned areas.

    • Seeks clarification, listens and conveys information clearly in written and verbal forms.
    • Investigates and responds appropriately to all complaints and takes effective, corrective action when necessary.
    • Demonstrates ability to identify and resolve interpersonal and/or professional conflicts when dealing with members of the organization.
    • Participates on committee assignments.

     

    Assumes responsibility for compliance with internal and external regulations, policies and procedures.

    • Aware of TJC, Department of Health, MN DHS and licensure requirements.
    • Evaluates, develops and revises clinical systems to assure regulatory compliance.
    • Promotes effective labor relations practices.
    • Is familiar with union contracts and participates in resolution of grievance as applicable.

    • Completes System Credentialing for pro-fee billing 

     


    Qualifications

    Required

     

    • Master’s Degree in mental health, or related field
    • 1 year of leadership experience
    • 3 years’ experience in Behavioral Health
    • Licensed as a mental health provider in the state of MN (i.e. LICSW, LP, LPCC, LMFT)
