Anesthesia Technician assists Anesthesiologist by setting-up equipment and preparing medications. Orders, stocks, tests, and maintains anesthesia supplies, medications, and equipment. Being an Anesthesia Technician washes and sterilizes re-usable equipment and reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel. Performs safety checks on anesthesia equipment and assists the Anesthesiologist as needed. Additionally, Anesthesia Technician may also be required to complete Anesthesia Technician trainee program. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Anesthesia Technician works under moderate supervision. Summary :
Assists anesthesiologists in the administration of anesthesia for surgical and non-surgical procedures. Monitors patient status and provide patient care during surgical treatment.
Responsibilities :
• Insures a complete setup for anesthesia services in all anesthetizing locations. • Cleans, disinfects, sterilizes all anesthesia equipment. • Assists anesthesia personnel with preparation/placement of IV fluids, regional anesthesia techniques, physiologic monitoring, airway equipment, and anesthesia machine set up/troubleshooting • Assists with transport of monitored patients. • Seeks opportunities for professional growth and development. • Maintains a safe environment complying with NLH policies and procedures; reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed. • May perform other duties upon request.
