Enhances operations by establishing metrics, analyzing processes, and implementing standard methodologies, tools, and best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables. Being an Applications Development Director oversees review of development proposals, projects, timelines, resources, and costs. Develops feedback processes for peer reviews, code reviews, and design reviews. Additionally, Applications Development Director establishes a performance culture by incorporating individual and team coaching and mentoring to achieve excellence. May develop and manage outsourcing budgets, vendor relationships, or off-shore resources. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Applications Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.     We are currently looking for a Senior Applications Development Manager who will be responsible for the strategic direction, leadership and oversight of the Capital Market Derivatives Technology team with the focus of modernization of application portfolio and delivery of solutions to support the business needs globally.



    This individual will manage all technology aspects within the assigned portfolio and develop technology strategy in collaboration of business stakeholder and mitigates risk through cost effective solutions and efficient operations of your respective area.


    The Senior Applications Development Manager will be responsible for managing a team of software engineers engaged in the design, development, and delivery of efficient and cost-effective technical solutions across a mix of in-house and vendor platforms to resolve complex, multi-dimensional business problems. You will have the opportunity to work with talent individuals from cross functional teams and be responsible to build and implement market leading solutions that are scalable, in high quality, with adequate and effective controls to meet obligations required for compliance and operational risk and add value to our business partners and customers.



    Responsibilities:

    ·       Provides strategic thought leadership in the delivery of strategies and solutions that best support business objectives and needs. Apply modern and new technologies and practices to transform current platforms to deliver new and legacy requirements while improve security, availability, reliability and cost of delivery & support of overall solutions.

    ·       Responsible for the design, architecture and the successful implementation of effective and quality solutions.

    ·       Accountable for delivery according to agreed upon timelines and budgetary constraints.

    ·       Effectively manage a team of technical professional including software engineers and DevOps by setting performance expectations, monitoring performance and providing technical guidance and coaching.

    ·       Lead a customer focused and high performing culture and implement strategy to attract, retain, develop, and motivate the team through purposeful leadership and by fostering an inclusive culture.

    ·       Communicate vision/values/business strategy.

    ·       Collaborate with multiple technology groups and vendors to ensure that the application, integrations, infrastructure and architectures are designed to meet evolving business requirements, and the standards for reliability, scalability, performance and availability that aligns with the organization’s technology roadmap.

    ·       Build and maintain an in-depth working relationship with technology partners, management and business stakeholders, and partner with them to help drive the strategy of the department.




    Qualifications:

    ·       Requires 10 years of directly related experience supporting Adenza’s Calypso platforms and infrastructure.

    ·       10 plus years of progressive software development and IT experience, with in depth software engineering/technical background and experience leading and building high performance teams.

    ·       Proven experience in managing large technology projects and building complex solutions.

    ·       Capital markets knowledge and architecture experience.

    ·       8 plus years of experience with Java.

    ·       Experience with Messaging BUS/ Brokers like: IBM MQ, Kafka, Redis.

    ·       Experience working with Realtime, high availability and low latency systems.

    ·       Experience with RDBMS Systems Server (Oracle, MySql).

    ·       Experience working with K8S, rancher and docker, using Linux including related scripting.

    ·       Excellent communication and presentation skills to manage stakeholder relations and work with cross functional teams.

    ·       Ability to communicate effectively depending on the audience and build consensus with stakeholder groups.

    ·       Adherence to development methodology and familiar with software development technologies and concepts.

    ·       Understanding of object-oriented design and design patterns, micro services architecture and high performance, and multi-threading techniques.

    ·       Practical experience on agile delivery with deep understating of core agile concepts and practices.

    ·       Experience with DevOps and continuous delivery and deployment methodologies based off bitbucket, Jenkins.

     

     

    Plus:

    ·       Practical experience in building and supporting trading systems using latest technologies.

    ·       An understanding of bank application systems and software from a business/technical viewpoint to assess the impact of development and/or changes to the overall environment.

    ·       Experience with TDD / BDD with focus on delivering automated, repeatable testing at build time.

    ·       Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology with emphasis in software development or other related field.  A combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.

     

     

     Pay Range: $150,000 - $195,000

     

     

    Location:

    This position can be located 100% remote within the United States or will be a hybrid work from home schedule with a minimum of three days per week in the office if you are within 50 miles of the new Zions Technology Center in Midvale, UT.
