This position has overall responsibility for supporting JTEKT warranty cost share activities for hub units and chassis bearings. Essential Duties and Accountabilities: • Reply to immediate bearing warranty questions from customers, sales, manufacturing and other internal departments. Also, resolve customer warranty through close and careful communication with JTEKT manufacturing plants, warranty group, quality assurance, sales, other Technical Centers and application engineering• Create the overall warranty strategies for our customers to lower warranty cost share rates under the leadership of applications engineering management• Provide warranty parts and direction to the warranty group for analysis pursuant with strategies for lower warranty cost share rates• Lead person to bring together warranty group, quality groups, and suppliers to work toward an agreeable root cause for warranty return parts• Utilize problem solving tools and data analytics to guide the investigations for warranty bearing returns• Collect, document, interpret and analyze customer inputs to develop design requirements• Provide technical proposals that include bearing selection, bearing analysis, test planning, and installation recommendations to meet customer requirements• Contributes to design reviews with internal/external teams • Reviews and supports the updates of design (change) requests and examination request for compliance with internal/external requirements• Review and update new designs to insure compliance with internal/external requirements• Release drawings and related outputs using JTEKT systems• Contributes to testing to confirm designs and design changes meet internal/external requirements• Demonstrate knowledge of and conformance to internal/external engineering standards and quality systems• Build or modify JTEKT engineering standards as neededSupervisory Responsibilities:• This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Working knowledge of computer aided design (CAD), word-processing, database and spread sheet programs• Technical writing skills• Strong problem solving and data analytical skills• Strong self-starter, action oriented and results driven• Must be able to support cross functional teams with members from various levels within organizations to achieve common goals• Must be able work with minimum supervision• Ability to self-prioritize and handle multiple projects • Excellent project and time management skills• Must have strong desire to learn new skills and demonstrate newly learned skills• Interpersonal, oral/written communications, and planning/organization skills• Highly self-motivated and able to work in a team environment• Basic knowledge of applicable IATF 16949/ISO 90001 specific procedures and elements Education and Experience: • Normally requires a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, engineering technology, or equivalent technical degree, and a minimum of 2 years related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
