Art Teacher
  • Ascent Classical Academies
  • Irmo, SC FULL_TIME
  • Description

Do you want to grow your career in American Classical Education, helping students to live responsible, courageous, and virtuous lives?

Ascent Classical Academies are dedicated to the intellectual and moral betterment of students and encourage teachers to take their own moral and intellectual improvement seriously as part of a supportive and excellence-driven culture. At Ascent Classical Academy charter schools, well-educated and articulate faculty utilize direct instruction to convey real knowledge to students using traditional teaching methods. Teachers enjoy a wide array of resources as they create their own lessons within the content-rich curriculum to engage students in a positive and virtue-imbued learning experience in the liberal arts.

The training of a student’s soul is enhanced greatly in the study of the Fine Arts. Whether it be performance or visual arts, students who dedicate themselves to an arts-based discipline are being trained for much more than that art alone.? Their very soul is being formed into one that recognizes rhythm, harmony, symmetry, and decorum in such a way that they would be able to recognize when something is as it ought to be, or as it ought not to be to a greater degree than students who are not trained in the fine arts.??Fine arts also train the eye to see beauty, the mind to understand beauty, and the heart to love truly beautiful things. This training of the heart and soul is a central reason why students at ACA are exposed to the arts throughout grammar ?school and ?are required to take a fine art elective in upper school.?

This position will require one to be involved in developing the arts program at the school using the concepts of the Core Knowledge framework, which will require a background in studio art, art history, and art appreciation.

One of Columbia's more prominent geographical features is its fall line, the boundary between the upland Piedmont region and the Atlantic Coastal Plain, across which rivers drop as falls or rapids. Columbia grew up at the fall line of the Congaree River, which is formed by the convergence of the Broad River and the Saluda River. The Congaree was the farthest inland point of river navigation. The energy of falling water also powered Columbia's early mills. The city has capitalized on this location which includes three rivers by christening itself "The Columbia Riverbanks Region". Columbia is lo...
