The Assistant Vice President for Programs reports to the Vice President for Programs. The position includes responsibility for the overall continuum of programs and services (residential, transition services, college/vocational, foster care, family preservation, aftercare, medical services, charter school, and program development) throughout Texas and New Mexico within the Methodist Children's Home system. The Assistant Vice President is expected to effectively manage and improve existing programs and services as well as assist the Vice President for Programs to explore other potential programs and opportunities for services and collaborations that will complement and help fulfill the organization's mission and strategic initiatives. The Assistant Vice President for Programs is responsible for ensuring all programs and services operate within state and federal laws, regulations, licensing and accreditation standards, and within organizational approved policies and procedures. The Assistant Vice President for Programs must maintain a healthy value system, including moral and ethical behavior consistent with the agency's mission and core values.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a professional position that may require more hours than the normal 40-hour workweek. Presence during the normal business hours of the agency is required to provide supervision and availability for consultation, staffing and administrative functions. Responsibilities include working after normal office hours, during the weekend or on holidays. Out-of-town and overnight travel are also required. An automobile for in town and out of town travel is required, and mileage reimbursement is provided for use of personal automobile for approved business purposes. A technology stipend is provided to support the communication requirements of this position.
EDUCATION/LICENSURE
A master's degree in social work or related field is required. Five years of experience in a residential care facility, child-placing agency or related setting is required. Five years of experience in a supervisory capacity is preferred. The Assistant Vice President for Programs must have or be eligible for a Child-Care Administrator's License and a Child-Placing Agency Administrator's License in the State of Texas. The required administrator licenses must be obtained within one year of accepting position. Credentials as a Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor is preferred.
TRAINING
Training hours must be completed annually to comply with licensing and accreditation standards, as well as MCH policy. The employee's supervisor may require additional training to meet specific job requirements or enhance professional growth. Completion of training requirements is mandatory for continued employment.
OTHER
The Assistant Vice President for Programs must have a valid Texas Driver's License, an excellent driving record that meets the standards set forth by the liability insurance company and Methodist Children's Home, no criminal history and acceptable references.
