Assoc. Professor - Legal Support teaches courses in the discipline area of legal services. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Legal Support provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Legal Support typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks.   • Family Service Association is seeking to hiring a Temporary (35 hours per week) Legal Assistant. Hours are Monday - Friday from 9a.m. to 5p.m,  However able to be flexible.  

    Job Summary:

    To assist the Attorneys of the Guardianship Program in all legal and related office work pertaining to the Guardianship Program.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Type correspondence, pleadings and documents.
    • Responsible to understand all court procedures and filing fees.
    • Responsible to be proficient with Mass Courts and e-filing with court systems.
    • Responsible to maintain Outlook calendar for upcoming Court Hearings including reminders for court related duties such as Citations, requests for paperwork, deadlines, etc.
    • Review of Outlook calendar on a daily basis to keep attorneys current on upcoming Court dates, meetings, pre-trial conference, etc.
    • Prior to date of hearing, meetings, pre-trial conference, etc. inventory all documents to ensure complete file is available to attorney prior to event date, including filing fees.
    • Filing.
    • Open files for new clients, maintain Active Case List, and maintain Temp./Perm. List
    • Filing necessary documents with Court.
    • Provide clerical assistance when requested including specialized projects, CQI requirements, input billing, etc.
    • Procure Bonds for Guardianship Program.
    • Fulfill Notice requirements for court cases.
    • Complete and submit all necessary paperwork to Court in a timely fashion in accordance with instructions.
    • Responsible for requesting clinical documentation from physicians and follow up Re: Roger’s Reviews.
    • Responsible for completing draft of paperwork for Roger Review Hearings in a timely manner for a review by Attorney.
    • Responsible for completing draft of necessary paperwork for Rudrow renewals in timely manner.
    • Prepare legal files for case record review.
    • Responsible for opening and date stamping mail pertaining to legal component.
    • Assist with answering telephone.
    • Assist with sale and management of real estate including, scheduling contractor, locksmith, cleanouts, repairs, etc.
    • Coordinate meetings outside office Re: sale of motor vehicles, appraisal, clean outs, etc.
    • Maintain Guardianship Forms in Carelogic.
    • Responsible for ordering supplies for Guardianship Program, if requested.
    • Assist with administrative task associated with Parents Forever Program, if requested.
    • Responsible for following court procedures when filing correspondence/documents with the court.
    • Respond to reasonable expectations of the Attorneys and/or Agency.

    Education and Experience:

    • High School Diploma. 
    • Experience working in probate law desirable, but not required. 
    • Three (3) years’ office experience required.
