Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Special Education typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. This position offers flexibility for innovative program expansion and engagement in scholarship based on an individual candidate’s intellectual curiosity and strengths. Doane faculty enjoy teaching courses with an average 12:1 student/teacher ratio and develop programs that build connections with students at both graduate and undergraduate levels.This position will be part of the College of Education with campuses in Crete, Lincoln, and Omaha, Nebraska. Opportunities for teaching and advising students at the undergraduate and graduate level in Doane’s M.Ed. and Ed.D. programs will be available along with opportunities to chair or serve on committees for doctoral students.Other responsibilities and desired expertise will include:Advising students in the undergraduate and graduate programsExperience with middle school/secondary teachingExperience with diverse populations, including but not limited to modeling effective instructional practices both inside and outside of the classroomSupervising and mentoring student teachersExperience with using various technologiesDoane University actively works to create and sustain a welcoming learning community for all members to fulfill their potential, feel valued, and make meaningful contributions to the University.
