Washtenaw Community is seeking a highly motivated and visionary individual to serve as the inaugural Associate Dean of Career and Technical Education. Reporting directly to the Dean of Career and Technical Education, successful candidates will have proven experience in academic administration and a passion for innovation.
Position Summary:
The Associate Dean for Career and Technical Education plays a pivotal role in shaping the direction of our career and technical education programs, fostering innovation, and ensuring the highest standards of academic quality and student success. This position reports directly to the Dean of Career and Technical Education.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on leadership and support the strategic direction of all career and technical education (CTE) programs offered by the institution.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, industry partners, and other stakeholders to develop and implement innovative curriculum and instructional strategies that meet the needs of a diverse student population.
- Oversee program development, review, and assessment processes to ensure alignment with industry standards and best practices.
- Lead efforts to recruit, retain, and support a diverse faculty and staff who are committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
- Provide support and direction to all industry advisory boards ensuring they are robust and representative of our regional employers and sectors.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development among faculty and staff.
- Collaborate with academic and student support services to ensure seamless pathways for student success from enrollment to graduation and beyond.
- Partner with Workforce Development and the Center for Career Success to effectively market and represent CTE programs with external stakeholders and industry partners.
- Manage budgetary and instructional equipment resources effectively and responsibly, in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and manage processes, procedures, and activities that ensure the smooth, accurate, and effective business of the Career and Technical education programs while meeting and maintaining the strategic goals, policies, and practices of the College.
- Serve as an administrative resource and support for Department Chairs, assisting them in the interpretation, implementation, improvement, and evaluation of both academic and administrative activities, processes, and projects.
- Represent the institution at local, regional, and national meetings and conferences related to career and technical education.
- Serve as the backup to the Dean in their absence.
