POSITION OVERVIEW
The Associate Dean of Student Engagement serves a pivotal role in ensuring the overall care and conduct of students and adherence to policies of university students, overseeing critical functions such as emergency management support, policy exception inquiries, and logistical coordination for departmental activities. Assists with managing the Resident Advisor Program, fostering community engagement, and promoting a supportive campus environment conducive to student success while delivering effective and timely results in all assigned Student Development initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the management of the chapel attendance policy, chapel seating arrangements, ushers, and offering responsibilities for bi-weekly chapel services.
- Oversee, review, and maintain commuter chapel attendance records and petitions.
- Plan, organize, administer, and manage processes and operations related to the Resident Advisor (RA) Program. Activities may include the coordination of meetings, banquet, retreat, venue requisition, and additional services, etc.
- Provide administrative support to the Dean of Student Engagement on department initiatives, student worker oversight, and logistical support to the department staff.
- Communicate with parents, as needed, regarding conduct and care responsibilities to include disciplinary and emergency matters.
- Assist with administrative oversight to ensure the student discipline process is redemptive in nature, consistent with the mission and vision of the University, and appropriate for the behavior.
- Assist with the management of incident reports; determining appropriate level of follow-up consistent with the University conduct procedures.
- Oversee the training, application process, internship program, and selection process for the Resident Advisor Program.
- Train, schedule, and supervise the student leader staff for the Student Life receptionist area.
- Work in coordination with the Concierge/Residential Services Office on front desk student leader staff coverage for daytime duty in the residence halls.
- Maintain availability for on-call inquiries in collaboration with the Dean of Student Engagement where staff will reach out for assistance regarding urgent matters as they arise. On-call coverage spans daytime, evening, weekends, and holidays.
- Oversee and maintain the Student Life Mentorship Program
- Collaborate with the Senior Administrative Assistant for the Vice President of Student Life on matters involving office management protocols, front desk assistants, customer service inquiries, and administrative support for the Student Life team.
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge & Experience:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field. Master’s degree preferred in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
- Requires at least two years of supervisory experience, including leading and developing effective training.
- Ability to cultivate relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and exercise sound judgment in complex situations.
- Live near the ORU campus or in University-provided housing.
Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, familiarity with Banner, and Maxient.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, grammar, leadership, administrative, mathematical, multitasking, and communication skills are essential.
- Strong ability to handle multi-tasks, self-motivated, and maintain a professional demeanor in a busy office environment.
