Associate Dean of Law assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of law. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Law provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Law typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Law typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. One to three years of experience as an attorney in domestic relations law, including court experience, is preferred. The ideal candidate is an attorney capable of working independently in a fast paced legal environment with the ability to efficiently multitask.
The candidate must have excellent written and oral advocacy skills with experience in motion practice and the ability to handle complex cases, high conflict custody disputes, and high net worth cases from start to finish, including trials. Exposure to, and procedural knowledge of, Massachusetts divorce and custody law is preferred. Experience should include drafting pleadings, assisting senior attorneys with court appearances, and appearing in court independently on matters.
