Associate Dean of Law assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of law. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Law provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Law typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Law typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Job Description
Ascent Law has an immediate opening for an associate attorney with one or more years of experience. Candidates should have litigation experience as well as some transactional experience, in areas such as contracts, family law (divorces and custody matters), bankruptcy, criminal law, civil litigation, and other related matters. Experience in all of the business areas is not required, but a strong familiarity with litigation is necessary. You must be able to appear at hearings, argue motions effectively, take and defend depositions, draft pleadings, research and draft memoranda, briefs, and effectively conduct evidentiary hearings, depositions, and trials.

The firm generally represents individuals in family law, criminal, estate planning, probate, business matters, personal injury matters, and bankruptcy.
We are seeking an associate attorney. If the associate works out well, an equity position will be desired and offered. We currently have 8 attorneys that work closely with each other on cases and client matters. Each attorney is fully responsible for their own performance and is expected to be able to handle a calendar and docket with many variables, while being able to take assignments and work collaboratively on bigger projects. Utah bar license in good standing is required.

Responsibilities
Research and Draft Motions, Briefs, Legal Memorandums, Letters, Correspondence,
Identify and address legal issues associated with legal proceedings.
Manage, process, and closely monitor caseload from inception to resolution.
Counsel clients and potential clients on legal matters.
Remain current on federal and state laws, regulations, and practices in family law, real estate law, estate planning, and civil litigation.
Take direction from supervising attorney and/or office manager.
Oversee paralegal and non-attorney staff as needed.
You must maintain 125 billable hours a month.
Qualifications
JD with strong academic credentials.
For recent graduates, law review/journal experience preferred, but not required.
Active Utah State Bar license is required.
Additional State Bar licenses preferred, but not required.
Additional Language abilities (Spanish) preferred, but not required.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, work under pressure, and work as a team is required.
Exceptional writing ability and interpersonal skills required.
Excellent oral advocacy and court skills required.
You must be able to touch type at 45 WPM
You Must be able to research and draft your own pleadings and documents.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
