Associate Dean of Sciences assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of science. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Sciences provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Sciences typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Sciences typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Job Summary
Provides creative leadership and administrative oversight for Libraries' Research and Learning Division, including the departments of Academic Engagement and the Science and Engineering Library. Ensures a comprehensive, collaborative, innovative, and responsive information and service environment for the highly interdisciplinary research and learning needs of the campus. Takes a leadership role in developing new programs and partnerships that empower faculty and students, advance scholarship, extend the University's impact, and ensure that the Libraries evolve in response to a changing environment. As a member of the Library Leadership Team, participates in the overall strategic planning and operational oversight of the University Libraries including staffing, budget, and programmatic directions.
