Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of an undergraduate program. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Purpose:
The Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education is responsible for overseeing university-wide undergraduate education initiatives that support and enhance the undergraduate student academic experience and executes the mission of inspiring undergraduate students to become engaged citizens and well-rounded scholars prepared to act in a diverse world.
This position reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and will be responsible for overseeing the programs, services, and initiatives of the Office of Undergraduate Education, within the Division of Academic Affairs. This position provides direction to and responsibility for developing innovative new university-wide programs that serve and support undergraduate students. This academic leader will coordinate, develop, and implement academic policies and procedures related to undergraduate education. The Associate Provost works closely with the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs in all areas related to undergraduate curriculum, orientation programming, retention, and the implementation of technology designed to specifically improve the quality of services and information available to staff and students with the specific intent for enhancing student success at the undergraduate level, with emphasis on the first and second year of the student undergraduate experience at Lincoln University.
Furthermore, the Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education will lead efforts in consultation with the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs in the development of a proven-practice model for academic advising and strategic impact and focus on undergraduate student success. This may include the creation of a Freshmen or University College model, where the Associate Provost will also be required for leading. In addition, this role will provide leadership for the Honors Program, Undergraduate Research, the Academic Success Center, International Education, and development of the Office of Civic Engagement and Service-Learning.
