Job Summary:
The Associate Director of Student Financial Aid is responsible for the maintenance and integrity of all student financial aid records. The Associate Director manages a system of data collection related to financial aid applications; evaluate eligibility for aid consistent with U.S. Department of Education, State of Maryland regulations, and institutional policies; communicates award information to students and lenders; counsels students concerning financial management practices and financing options; provides up-to-date financial aid program information through the web and other means; monitors compliance with institutional and governmental financial aid policies and procedures.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the Director of Financial aid in the maintenance and integrity of the administration of all student financial aid programs.
- Responsible for trouble shooting and resolving technical problems and concerns with systems, PeopleSoft and Oracle Student Financial Processing, KHEAA verify.
- Knowledge of system process design and how to implement continuous improvement processes.
- Coordinate the training of new and current staff members.
- On a regular and continuous basis, exercise administrative judgement and assume responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs and/or quality of services within the functional area.
- Coordinate a variety of special and recurring analyses and reports including reconciliation of all Federal, State, and Institutional programs.
- Coordinate all technological advances including electronic transfer of data with the US Department of Education.
- Assist in gathering of scholarship data and statistical reporting to Federal, State, Institutional and outside entities as required.
- Coordinate Coppin State Unviersity scholarship eligibility for all new continuing students each year.
- Work with the Development Office to ensure maximum utilization of donor gifts and endowed scholarship funds.
- Maintain current information on the University’s website and portal regarding external scholarships.
- Coordinate the delivery of all federal, state, institutional, and private student aid funds with the Bursar’s Office.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Master’s degree preferred, preferably in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, or Student Affairs
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:
- A minimum of five (5) years of previous experience working in a financial aid office.
- Knowledge of best practices in departmental field.

Preferred Qualifications Conditions of Employment
Maintain regular attendance and closely follow office reporting policies and procedures. The director must be flexible in terms of working after normal work hours on occasions when the job tasks require; travel as needed.
