    https://history.uark.edu/Summary of Job Duties:The Department of History in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas, invites applications for a one-year non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor of History with specialization in history of medicine or public health to start in August 2024. This one-year appointment position is a standard, nine-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will have a 2/2 teaching load consisting of upper division courses and the history of medicine series at the introductory and upper levels. Period and geographical area of specialization are open. We seek a candidate with a commitment to teaching excellence, a compelling research record, one who demonstrates curiosity in emerging technologies and novel pedagogical approaches. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

    The faculty of the Department of History range widely across the discipline, in a variety of geographies and cultures, from the ancient to the post-modern world, with teaching and research emphases in political, social, diplomatic, cultural, intellectual, and environmental history. https://history.uark.edu/

    Minimum Qualifications:

    With submitted materials, the candidate must demonstrate

    • Ph.D. in History or related field

    • An active research agenda

    • A commitment to exceptional teaching at the undergraduate level

    • Demonstrated competency in the classroom

    • College-level experience teaching in scholar's major fields and related fields

    • Demonstrated evidence of strong interpersonal communication skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • PhD in History of science, medicine, and technology

    • Strong record of successful publication and funding in the thematic and/or methodological areas described in the job summary

    • Interest or experience in interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary, and/or cross-campus collaborations

    • Demonstrated excellence with teaching
