Asst. Professor - Nursing teaches courses in the discipline area of nursing. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Asst. Professor - Nursing provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Asst. Professor - Nursing typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and contributes to research In a specialized field. The ideal candidate has the primary responsibility of instruction in the classroom, clinical, and lab setting while planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating Nursing curriculum.
This is a Safety Sensitive position pursuant to Oklahoma Statute OKLA. STAT. tit. 63, * 427.8 (2020).
- Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Nursing required.
Hold a valid, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oklahoma.
Evidence of current practice with a minimum of two years full-time equivalent as an RN in a clinical setting preceding employment as a teacher.
Philosophy compatible with that of a comprehensive urban community college.
- Preferred Qualifications
Prefer teaching experience at the community college or university level.
