Professor - Special Education provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Asst. Professor - Special Education typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and contributes to research In a specialized field. For some students, complex medical issues require frequent care from qualified personnel.

    Nursing services and therapies are integrated into the classroom with the emphasis on teaming with classroom staff to meet the objectives of each students Individualized Education Plan.Instructional Assistants assist professional staff with all aspects of program management including classroom, student support and provision of therapy services. Specific Duties: Work with a classroom teacher in an academic support role. Collaborate with professional staff to ensure the safety of the students in all environments. Instructional Assistants may be required to assist students with toileting and diapering.

    This position also requires assistance with mealtimes, hygiene including changing, and physically assisting students in the classroom (positioning students, assisting with orthotics, etc.). Modify materials based on student needs. Participate in training in relevant areas.
