Biomedical Engineering Technician delivers biomedical equipment services that provide safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support of biomedical clinical and research equipment. Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of medical equipment. Being a Biomedical Engineering Technician tests the functionality of equipment and takes accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements to calibrate devices. Coordinates with medical staff and vendors to troubleshoot problems, resolve equipment malfunctions and enable new devices. Additionally, Biomedical Engineering Technician supports medical staff with equipment operations training. Typically requires an associate degree. Typically requires Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Biomedical Engineering Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     The department offers a unique undergraduate program in Biomedical Engineering that allows a student of the program to major in Biomedical Engineering, minor in mathematics and minor in an additional area of engineering. Thus, a student graduating from the 120 SCH program will be well rounded and have the engineering skills and expertise to work in industry, hospitals, or research institutions or to become a motivated entrepreneur.
    Position Summary
    The Department of Biomedical Engineering seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting is for the Fall 2023, Spring 2024 and Summer 2024 semesters. The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs.
