Biomedical Photographer performs wide variety of photographic functions in a medical setting. Takes photographs and prepares images, slides, or prints of subjects used for archives, educational materials, legal proceedings, and scientific literature. Being a Biomedical Photographer photographs patients, operating room procedures, autopsy and laboratory specimens and other medical subjects. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, Biomedical Photographer may require a technical certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Biomedical Photographer works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Duties and Responsibilities:
Execute a wide array of photography assignments, including studio, candid, and news-style photographs, employing appropriate lighting and camera equipment to suit each unique location and event.
Craft descriptive, accurate photo captions that adhere to Navy style guidelines, demonstrating the ability to work efficiently on site and meet tight deadlines.
Efficiently manage a demanding photo schedule, which may include multiple shoots in a single day, ensuring all assignments are completed to the highest standards.
Perform post-shoot tasks such as editing, color correction, and uploading, with the expectation that representative photos are archived within 24 hours of each event.
Collaborate closely with the communications team to ensure photographic content aligns with strategic messaging and public affairs objectives, enhancing the overall impact of visual storytelling.
Maintain and manage photography equipment, ensuring all gear is in optimal condition and ready for deployment at all times.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Photography/ Visual Arts.
Experience at a newspaper or other publication.
Demonstrated ability to write descriptive, accurate photo captions in accordance with Navy style, on site under deadline.
Ability to manage photo schedule sometimes multiple shoots in a day with the requirement to edit, color correct and upload archive representative photos within 24 hours of each event.
