Position Summary
The Breast Center Nurse Practitioner functions as an independent healthcare provider who, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, is responsible for providing comprehensive healthcare to patients in an outpatient setting. The NP will care for women with breast disorders, including high-risk patients, and the work will include follow-up of patients with breast cancer, benign disease and family history. The NP will also coordinate and assist in the assessment and management of patients including pre- and post-operative assessments, minor procedures such as incision and drains and cyst aspirations, triage urgent appointments, coordinate tests and consultations, implement treatment plans, communicate with collaborating physicians, and perform patient education. The NP will promote a collaborative relationship and effort between the patient and both the Breast Center, Hematology/Oncology and Radiation Oncology teams, other clinicians, medical assistants, and support staff. Effectively communicates with patients, families, providers and staff. Participates in projects, programs and other activities to support clinical practice and practice operations. Maintains necessary licensure and completes continuing education to ensure performance of all responsibilities. The Nurse Practitioner will provide care within their scope of practice as outlined by applicable state law, licensing, regulations, institutional policy and practice agreements.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 15 to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 5 pounds of force frequently.
