    General Statement of Job 

    This position requires comprehensive knowledge of staffing and early childhood curriculum and a thorough understanding of the behavioral and developmental stages of children. This position requires the ability to manage a large School, strong leadership and organizational skills, patience, flexibility, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong initiative and problem-solving skills.

    You will oversee talent, brand, and operations of an assigned School to ensure Florence 1 Schools’s mission, vision and values are upheld. Develop, and motivate the Team. Actively develop and maintain positive customer/community relations. Manage all resources effectively and within budget.

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assists the Director of School Readiness in planning and preparing the required annual 15 hours of staff development for all personnel working in the classroom setting. 
    • Serves as the site contact person for the Director of School Readiness.  
    • Maintains a working knowledge of the current curriculum and assessment.  
    • Maintains compliance with all SCDE/OELL requirements.  
    • Ensures compliance with all federal and state laws, regulations, and Celebree standards, policies, and procedures.
    • Serves as the on-site monitor for daily events (i.e. classroom observations, children’s meals, recess safety, classroom/janitorial/secretarial supplies, arrival and dismissal, and building/grounds repairs and improvements.
    • Places new students in the classrooms when required and provides follows up with required assessments 
    • Participates in and conducts required staff meetings, new hire orientation, and professional development opportunities for staff.
    • Addresses concerns in a timely manner.
    • Ensures School is consistently clean, neat, and organized and meets visual execution standards; recommends repair work as needed.
    • Supports and leads new company initiatives; ensures adaptation of new programs, policies
    • Schedules and executes all safety drills on a monthly basis. 
    • Participates in 20 hours of training per calendar year.
    • Provides support and materials for staff to be able to work successfully while being a good steward of district resources.
    • Creates a culture of shared leadership by creating leadership teams with staff who will plan family and center events throughout the year.
    • Anticipates staffing needs; identifies and hires the best talent
    • Models positive behavior and attitude for staff, families and community through positive oral and written communication. 
    • Creates a School Family through the Parent Partnership Committee and School activities.
    • Maintains confidentiality.
    • Demonstrates accountability and initiative; identifies opportunities/goals for the school.
    • Understands payroll and budget control and remains within target; achieves enrollment goals.
    • Ensures School financials are up-to-date, accurate and organized.
    • Addresses staff and family concerns equitably and in a timely manner.
    • Assures staff have a working knowledge of curriculum and required district and state assessments. 
    • Monitors parent/teacher conferences from planning to completion.
    • Evaluates support staff yearly.
    • Seeks professional development opportunities; stays current on new practices in the childcare and education industry.
    • Is able to navigate the student database system to ensure accuracy related to student enrollment. 
    • Works with the Director of School Readiness to plan and implement family-based activities on the school grounds. 
    • Other duties as requested.

    Essential Functions 

    Physical Requirements:

     

    Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment, including a computer, telephone, basic office equipment, vehicle.  Must be able to exert up to five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Work involves sitting much of the time, but also involves walking or standing for extended periods of time.  Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of five to ten pounds.

    Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow and give verbal and written instructions, and to counsel and teach employees. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently with persons of varying educational backgrounds and in a variety of technical and/or professional languages including adult education, personnel, etc.

     

    Numerical Aptitude:

     

    Requires the ability to add and subtract totals, to multiply and divide, to utilize mathematical formulas, to determine percentages and decimals, and to determine time.  Must be able to use practical applications of statistics.

     

    Form/Spatial Aptitude:

     

    Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape, and visually read various information.

     

    Motor Coordination:

     

    Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes using office machinery and to operate motor vehicles.

     

    Manual Dexterity:

     

    Requires the ability to handle a variety of items, keyboards, office equipment, control knobs, buttons, switches, catches, etc.  Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.

     

    Interpersonal Temperament:

     

    Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.  Must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with emergency situations or tight deadlines. The worker may be subject to tension as a regular, consistent part of the job.

     

    Physical Communications:

     

    Requires the ability to talk and/or hear (talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words; hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear).

    Training and Education 

    Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education and a valid teaching. At least 5 years of teaching experience. Skills in typing and computer applications. Ability to organize resources and present information to staff. Good communication skills-oral and written.  Knowledge of community organization and resources.

    Plans, directs and uses information effectively in order to enhance activities and production of the department.  Knows and understands the expectations of the District regarding the activities of the department, and works to see that these expectations are met.  Designs and formulates ways, means, and timing to achieve the goals and objectives of the department and the District.  Within constraints of District policy, formulates appropriate strategy and tactics for achieving departmental and District objectives.  Effectively and efficiently organizes, arranges and allocates manpower, financial and other designated resources to achieve the goals and objectives of the department and the District.

     

    Organizing:

     

    Organizes work and that of subordinate staff well.  Ensures that staff members know what results are expected of them and that they are regularly and appropriately informed of all District and department matters affecting them, and/or of concern to them.

     

    Staffing:

     

    Works with the Human Resources Department and upper management, where appropriate, to select and recommend employment of personnel for the department who are qualified both technically and philosophically to meet the needs of the department and the District.  Personally directs the development and training of department personnel ensuring that they are properly inducted, oriented and trained.

    Provides a work environment which encourages clear and open communications. Has a clear and comprehensive understanding of the principles of effective leadership and how such principles are to be applied. Provides adequate feedback to staff so they know whether their performance levels are satisfactory.  Commends and rewards employees for outstanding performance yet does not hesitate to take disciplinary action when necessary.  Exercises enthusiasm in influencing and guiding others toward the achievement of District goals and objectives.
